I like playing with both language and appearance in my jewellery collections and one-of-a-kind pieces: names like ‘Spitze’ and ‘Skål!’ describe the piece’s forms, but are also humoristic and ambigious. The open silver bowls and boxes used in my collections are one of my signature elements in my jewellery pieces. They are full of contrasts and surprises: the beauty of the blank polished surfaces, the balanced colours and the round shapes on the one hand, and the nearly un-wearable and repellent appearance e.g. by the ‘upside down’ set gemstones on the other hand. Depending on the angle that you look at the pieces at, you are able to see the colourful enamel or shimmering gold leaf on the inside – or not. Also, the form causes an optical illusion, so again depending on the angle, you might think that the inside is popping out…
